We have 3 courts in the village and a club night each Thursday evening, when members can turn out without a partner and play.

Coaching

The club regularly hires a LTA qualified coach for a number of sessions on club night each year. The idea is to ensure all members can participate regardless of age or ability.

Social Events

We provide supper at the Old Black Bull pub for home team and the opposition after every home match.

Each year we run club tournaments combined with a social event:

Family Tournament open to all members and their families - Date to be confirmed

Open Tournament for any tennis players who wish to enter - Date to be confirmed

Teams

3 Competitive Teams (all mixed) in the Hovingham league which is aimed at rural communities and takes into account the fact many villages have only 2 courts (although we have 3) and plays a shorter format - 3 couples each play 9 games against each of the opposition couples.

We have a team in each of the 3 Hovingham divisions.

The first 2 teams are viewed as competitive – we aim to turn out the best teams that we can, whilst ensuring all those who want to play get a chance to do so. The emphasis is on winning if possible, but enjoying the games.

The 3rd team in the Hovingham league is viewed as a place for newcomers (both adult and juniors) to gain some experience and has traditionally finished bottom of the league. It’s a chance for everyone to have a go, regardless of ability.

Court Availability

The courts are available for use by members at all times other than when they’re used for matches on Monday evenings and for the various club activities e.g. Family Tournament etc..
